Nixnote (formerly Nevernote) is an open source clone of Evernote. Evernote makes it easy to remember things big and small from your everyday life using your computer, phone, tablet and the web. You can install Nixnote using the Nixnote PPA from Vincent Cheng.

To add the PPA and install Nixnote open a terminal window (press Ctrl+Alt+T) and copy+paste the following lines:

I have used Nevernote/Nixnote on my systems and it works great. I use it for my forensic/computer tech classes, information and data collection. I don’t necessarily put any sensitive stuff there, but things I access from anywhere.
Don’t forget to get the Chrome/Chromium extension for Evernote, it works great, also. Too bad Firefox got left out of this.

I’m still on version 10.0 and i didn’t upgrade Firefox to a newer (testing) version because of the lack of plugin support for many plugins… maybe you can downgrade your Firefox?

I wasn’t even aware that Evernote had a plugin for FF. I downgraded and IT WORKS!!! thanx alot. I’m a happy camper now.

I am glad i could i help you. Using the testing versions often results in faster surfing but most plugins aren’t tested and won’t work
